Scientific name: Dama dama
Identification: Introduced by European settlers. Medium sized game. There are different color variants. Black, white and the common yellow-brown body color with white dots over the majority of the body. Rams have large palm antlers.

Life expectancy: 13 years
Habitat: Very well adapted to the colder regions of South Africa. Prefers grasslands with ample tree cover. Thorn thickets are ideal habitat for them.
Habits: Most active during early mornings and late afternoon. Will head into thick bush when disturbed.
