Scientific name: Oreotragus oreotragus
Identification: Yellow/brown coat with black spots on individual hairs. This creates a very good camouflage for its rocky home. Black teardrop scent glands in the corner of the eye.

Life expectancy: 15 years
Habitat: Mountainous areas with rock outcrops. Hills, ravines and ridges. Often on secluded hills. Klipspringer in the Afrikaans language directly translates to “rock-jumper” no other animal is so perfectly named.
Habits: They mostly occur in pairs. Often you will find the lamb is still with the ewe. Rams establish territories where they make dung heaps and mark brush with scent glands located on the face. When threatened they will always flee to their rocky shelters.
