Scientific name: Kobus leche

Identification: Medium sized antelope with dark stripes on their front legs. Their front shoulders are lower in height than their hind-quarters. 

Mass: 100-130 kg  / 220-286 lbs

Life expectancy: Unknown

Habitat: Lechwe are always close to water. Ideal habitat includes floodplains and reed beds. 

Habits: Form unstable herds of 10-30 animals. Mature rams tend to walk alone with adolescents rams forming bachelor herds. During the rut, mature rams take control of a territorial area. They allow immature males in these territories, but fights of other mature rams. Like most antelope, they feed early mornings and late afternoon.
