Mountain reedbuck

Scientific name: Redunca fulvorufula

Identification: Medium sized antelope. Body is red-grey in color with a brown neck. Black spots under each ear. Snow white belly.

Mass: 24-36 kg  /  53-79 lbs

Life expectancy: 11 years

Habitat: Associated with mountainous areas. Dry rocky mountain slopes, hills and ridges with enough grass and spread out shrubs for cover form the ideal habitat for them. Reliant on water.

Habits: Forms herds of 3-12 animals. Where populations are high they can form herds of up to 30 animals. Territorial rams walk alone until breeding season when they join a herd with female and young animals. When startled they normally run down hill.
