Identification: Glossy red-brown body. The tail, frontal part of the face and the outside of the legs are black.

Mass: 135-180 kg   /  297-396lbs

Shoulder height: 125 cm   /  49″

Life expectancy: 13 years

Habitat: Prefers semi arid regions with sparsely populated trees as well as grass plains. Avoids thick tree cover.

Habits: Herd animals, can occur in herds of up to 25 animals. In moderate temperature animals are known to lay in the open sun.
